There are two coursework track options available for Self-Paced Program students.
- Web development track. Beginner-level project-based courses cover HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- NEW! Cybersecurity track. Intermediate-level project-based courses cover Python and cybersecurity fundamentals.
The web development track consists of three courses with one project each: a portfolio website, a personality quiz, and an advocacy website. The cybersecurity track consists of two courses with two to three projects: the Cybersecurity Chatbot course and the Decrypt the Secret Message course. Each course and its accompanying project will take students 3-6 hours to complete. For each completed course, students will earn a certificate that can be posted on social media. Students should expect to spend 10-15 hours on a track.
To be considered Self-Paced Program alumni and join the Girls Who Code Alumni Network, students need ONLY to complete one course and earn one certificate. However, we encourage students to complete as many courses as possible to earn as many certificates as possible in the allotted 6-week program.
The Self-Paced Program has a loose schedule since it is meant to complete at your own pace. However, we offer Advisory for one hour Tuesday-Thursday and student hours at various times Monday-Thursday. We highly encourage students to attend optional student hours and weekly advisory meetings when available.
Please note: Three virtual events are happening during week 2, week 4, and week 6!
