Can my Club fundraise or accept donations?

That depends! Clubs are welcome to fundraise, but where those funds are donated matters.

Donations made to Girls Who Code via our website will go toward our central office’s general operating expenses and can NOT be directed to a specific Club. These donations will be tax deductible and the GWC Tax ID can be provided upon request.

If you would like to raise funds to be used by your individual Club, you are welcome to work with your host site to collect donations in whatever way makes sense. This way, your Club may get to use all the money they raise. When fundraising for their own Club, donors seeking tax exemption should use the Tax ID of the host organization, not GWC.
