Girls Who Code recommends all Clubs start with the curriculum that accompanies our nonfiction book, Learn to Code and Change the World. This curriculum features chapter guides, online coding challenges, and unplugged activities. All excerpts from our nonfiction book are available as PDF copies in the chapter guides on Girls Who Code HQ, and no physical copies of the book are needed!
In mid-fall, you will have the option to use the curriculum that accompanies the first book in our fiction series, The Friendship Code. For the best experience, we recommend all members are able to read this book in its entirety. All approved 3-5th grade Clubs for the 2019-20 school year are eligible to receive a resource kit containing five FREE copies of The Friendship Code to add to your school or classroom’s library. Facilitators will be responsible for ordering this kit when it becomes available in mid-fall.
In the meantime, Girls Who Code has released a set of NEW Scratch tutorials on GWC HQ. While these tutorials are tied directly to chapters from the first book in our fiction series, The Friendship Code, they can be completed as standalone activities. Just keep in mind if you choose to lead your Club through our fiction curriculum in the future, you may repeat some of these activities.
