3rd-5th and 6th-12th grade Clubs are differentiated by their duration, goals, and whether they begin with an online or offline approach. Resources for both programs are primarily found on our learning platform, HQ.
3rd-5th grade Clubs students start their Clubs experience with guided lesson plans centered on Girls Who Code's book, Learn to Code and Change the World. Our 3rd-5th grade curriculum also includes optional online activity sets.
6th-12th grade Clubs start with online-based lesson plans and activity sets that utilize a variety of web-hosted tools. The curriculum is flexible, but designed to be covered across 10+ sessions, running around 60 minutes each session. The Plan Your Club Meeting Guide provides you with the tools and recommendations you need to create sessions tailored to your Club.
The main focus for 3rd-5th grade Clubs is developing bravery and confidence in their Computer Science skills. 6th-12th grade Clubs create a project. Members work together to solve a problem that is important to them, connecting the computer science skills they have learned with the ability to solve real-world problems and create change in their communities.
Please note: All Girls Who Code Clubs take place at a non-profit location and are led by a volunteer Facilitator.
