What's the difference between a Facilitator and a signatory?

All individuals completing an application to start a GWC Club must fulfill at least one of the following roles:

• Facilitators lead Club members through the curriculum.
• Signatories sign the Girls Who Code Clubs Participation Agreement on behalf of the host organization.

Each Girls Who Code Club requires both a Facilitator and signatory. These roles can be held by the same person or different people, however, the signatory must be an employee representative of the Club’s host organization. When applying to start a new Club, applicants must identify the role(s) they will serve or their host organization. 

If an applicant is unable to sign the GWC Participation Agreement, they will be required to list the name and contact information of a signatory on the application. Upon application submission, GWC will send an email to this representative on your behalf with a link to sign the agreement.

If an applicant will only serve as the signatory and not serve as a Facilitator, they will have the option to list the name and contact information of a Facilitator on the application. Upon application submission, GWC will send an email to this individual on your behalf with next steps for them to enroll to join your Club in HQ. 

Example: A librarian wants to start a GWC Club at her library and applies to do so, signing the Participation Agreement. They recruit a programmer who works at a local company to serve as the Club Facilitator leading students through the curriculum. In this case, the librarian is the signatory and the programmer is the Facilitator. If the librarian wanted to also lead a Club session, they would be both the signatory and the Facilitator.
