Keeping student information private is a top priority for us! No Clubs Student Account, Outside School Club Child Account, or Outside School Minor Account is made available or visible to the general public through Girls Who Code. See below for details on what different Users can see within GWC Accounts.
Club Student Users
A Club Student User means a child (under the age of eighteen (18)) who is using the Girls Who Code Club Service at the direction of a school either in school or for Educational Purposes connected to a school or classroom and whose school has a contractual relationship with Girls Who Code. For more information, see the GWC Club Children’s Privacy Policy.
What Can Parent Accounts View?
- Personal Information in their Clubs Student Account will be visible to their parent.
- If their parent account is connected to their Club Students Account, they can see the Club Student User’s avatar or brief bio.
- Projects in their Club Student User’s Project Gallery, if their Teacher Facilitator has allowed for access to their School Club’s Project Gallery.
What Can Teachers View?
- Personal Information in their Clubs Student Account will be visible to the Club Student User’s Teacher Facilitator.
- A Teacher Facilitator can also see a Club Student User’s avatar, brief bio, User- Generated Content (including questions on GWC curriculum and self-assessment questions).
- Messaging and other communications from a Club Student User to their Teacher Facilitator.
- Projects in their Club Student User’s Project Gallery.
What Can Other Student Users View?
- Other Club Student Users in your child’s School Club may see your child’s name and photo, but will not otherwise view their individual Club Student Account.
- Projects in their Club Student User’s Project Gallery, if the Teacher Facilitator has allowed for access to their School Club’s Project Gallery.
Outside School Learner Users
“Outside School Learner User” means collectively both an Outside School Minor User and an Outside School Clubs Child User. Outside School Clubs Minor User means a minor (between the ages of 13-17) using the Girls Who Code Services (including Clubs) not connected to a school or a classroom or at the specific direction of a school, including for educational and other learning activities at home, such as through the Summer Immersion Program (SIP). Any data collected from Outside School Minor Users would not be considered Student Data. Outside School Clubs Child User means a child (under 13) using the Girls Who Code Clubs Services not connected to a school or a classroom or at the specific direction of a school, including for educational and other learning activities at home, such as through accessing Code at Home materials on Girls Who Code HQ platform. Any data collected from Outside School Child Clubs Users would not be considered Student Data. For more information, see the GWC Club Children’s Privacy Policy.
What Can Parent Accounts View?
- Personal Information in a child’s Outside School Club Child Account will be visible to their parent.
- Since their parent account is connected to their child’s Outside School Club Child Account because of parent consent, parents can see anything in their child’s Outside School Clubs Child's Account, including their Personal Information (Which the parent shared) and avatar.
- If a parent connects their account to their child’s Outside School Minor Account, they can see their child’s Personal Information and avatar.
- Projects in their Outside School Learner User’s Project Gallery, if their Outside School Club Facilitator has allowed for access to their Outside School Club’s Project Gallery.
What Can Teachers View?
- Personal Information in their Outside School Club Child Account will be visible their Outside School Club Facilitator.
- Outside School Club Facilitators can also see any of their Outside School Learner User’s avatars, brief bios, and User- Generated Content (including questions on GWC curriculum and self-assessment questions).
- Messaging and other communications between an Outside School Learner User and their Outside School Facilitator.
- Projects in their Outside School Learner User’s Project Gallery.

- Other Outside School Learner Users in your child’s Club may see your child’s name and photo, but will not otherwise view their individual Outside School Club Child Account or Outside School Minor Account.
- Projects in their Outside School Learner User’s Project Gallery, if the Outside School Club Facilitator has allowed for access to their Outside School Club’s Project Gallery.
