GWC Club members will learn about computer science concepts, and just as importantly, they'll learn that they have a community in the computer science space!
Throughout the Club, all members will:
- Learn to see themselves as computer scientists.
- Gain exposure to project management and problem solving techniques.
- Build sisterhood in a safe and supportive environment of peers and role models.
- Learn about other women and non-binary identifying professionals in tech around the world.
- Learn the foundational computer science concepts that form the basis for all programming languages.
3rd-5th grade Clubs:
- Complete unplugged or online challenges in Scratch after reading each chapter in our non-fiction book, Learn to Code and Change the World, or fiction book, The Friendship Code.
- We are also happy to announce we are in the process of updating the entire 3-5 curriculum for the next school year, but in the meantime, we will be rolling out a few updated resources based on feedback from our Facilitators broadly and our 3rd-5th Facilitator Feedback Cohort. These updates include slide template decks, a new GWC Tech Spotlight series, and 2-3 revamped Sisterhood Activities.
6th-12th grade Clubs:
- Learn a variety of programming languages, including Scratch, Swift, Python, and JavaScript. Our activities and tutorials offer a range of difficulty for beginner programmers who have little to no experience programming to more advanced learners who will engage in more advanced topics like data structures.
